Democrat and former Clinton campaign staffer Dan Grilo has deleted his Twitter account after receiving swift backlash towards a disgraceful comment he made about the widow of deceased Navy SEAL Ryan Owens.
Last night Carryn Owens was present during Donald Trump’s address to members of congress when the president acknowledged her husband’s brave sacrifice in an anti-terrorism mission in Yemen. During this acknowledgement Trump said, “I just spoke to our great General Mattis, who reconfirmed that ‘Ryan was a part of a highly successful raid that generated large amounts of vital intelligence that will lead to many more victories in the future against our enemy. Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity.”
At that point the audience gave Owens a standing ovation that lasted over 2 minutes, as she wept at the memory of her husband while clenching her hands and looking up towards the sky.
It was a touching moment that even the mainstream media was forced to acknowledge as memorable and emotional, as well as complimenting Trump’s speech overall.
“I thought it was by far the best speech I’ve ever heard Donald Trump give,” he said. “It was one of the best speeches in that setting I’ve ever heard any president give.” Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Kirsten Powers echoed Wallace’s sentiments, calling it Trump’s “best speech” ever.
Although the vast majority of pundits agree it was a special moment, some Democrats became bitter at the idea, as disgraced former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Keith Ellison demonstrated by their refusal to join the ovation for Owens. In fact, they looked positively annoyed that their party was not on the receiving end of Owen’s outpouring of emotion, as the Democrats frequently feature mothers whose children were victims of police shootings.

One Democrat operative and former staffer on Hillary Clinton’s campaign took his reaction to Owen’s display a step further, however, as he sent out a judgmental an insulting tweet aimed at the emotional widow.
Dan Grilo, who currently works for Liberty Advisors Group, has since deleted his Twitter account after receiving fierce backlash towards his insulting response to Carryn Owen’s emotional outpouring, but unfortunately for him, the Internet never forgets. Grilo had previously displayed a banner on his Twitter account showing the popular vote totals for 2016, which seems to be the only grain of solace he was hanging onto after his candidate’s epic defeat.
It appears it was too difficult for this particular Democrat to respect a window’s loss, or at very least keep their insulting comments to themselves, as any compassion without political gain seems like a foreign concept to many on the left.
What happened to the left’s rallying cry of “love Trump’s hate”, which they chanted at their various protests against Trump, claiming that he used hateful rhetoric towards immigrants and minorities. It just goes to show that Democrats are happy to glorify those who have lost loved ones when it delivers political brownie points to their party, yet are absolutely aghast when it is directed towards Republicans.
