It seems authoritarianism and suppression of free speech is alive and well in Germany, as a German police officer is facing charges when he was heard criticizing Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel after a migrant launched a truck attack on a Berlin Christmas Market claiming the lives of 12 and injuring dozens more.
A German cop in the city of Solingen in western Germany could lose 3 months of his wages if he found guilty of “slander”, or could find himself out of a job altogether if he is determined to be “unfit for duty” after daring to criticize Merkel’s immigration policies.
What did the office say that was so inflammatory and dangerous about Angela Merkel that he could face charges of slander and risk losing his job over? He reportedly called her “criminal and insane” for allowing an open door policy for migrants and refugees to freely enter his country, many of them unvetted and from war torn areas of the Middle East, which has resulted in numerous terrorist attacks.
A GERMAN police officer is facing criminal proceedings after he allegedly branded Chancellor Angela Merkel “insane”.
The officer, from the western city of Solingen, could be fined three months’ wages if found guilty of slander.
He is said to have made the comments at an event held by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party earlier this month.
The anti-immigrant AfD is strongly opposed to Mrs Merkel’s open-door refugee policy.
After Monday night’s horrific Berlin terror attack, a host of leading AfD politicians blamed the embattled Chancellor.
Vice-chair Beatrix von Storch said: “It is not possible to let in so many refugees and as far as we know the terrorist was one of them.
“We have to look after our security and for the needs of our people. We will not be able to help everyone in need by taking them in.”
And outspoken party leader Frauke Petry said Mrs Merkel’s liberal refugee policy was “careless”.
She said: “We cannot go on denying there is a link between Merkel’s migration policy and these attacks.
“The worst case is that we get four more years of Merkel, and that means four more years of doing nothing to fix the problem.”
This case was also reported by the German news source WDR, making a brief statement regarding the police officer being charged with slander. Here is a translation from the story:
Merkel insult: criminal proceedings against Solingen police officers
A Solinger policeman Chancellor Angela Merkel as “criminal and insane” had described, expect a criminal case. According to authorities from Thursday (22.12.2016) it is about evil slander.
The statement is the Solingen earlier this month (12/03/2016) on a AfD have made -Veranstaltung in Euskirchen. In case of conviction, there could be a fine of up to three months’ salary. As long as the criminal proceedings are not concluded, it can not be decided whether the man is further suited to the police service, according to a police officer.
For a nation like Germany that claims to pride itself on free speech, arresting a police officer for criticizing Merkel’s careless policies of opening the doors to mass migration is eerily familiar to a bygone era of secret police and unbridled state surveillance.
It’s bad enough that German police have been instructed to cover up, downplay and ignore criminal actions perpetrated by migrants in an attempt to make the government’s immigration policies appear more favorable, but now a vital component of free speech is even being taken away from the citizenry.
Reuters reported earlier this year that a German police officer spoke to them under conditions of anonymity about how cases of violent crimes among migrants cannot be reported without being accused of “racism”.
A German police officer told media that law enforcement cannot efficiently tackle crime among refugees without being accused of excessive violence or racism, while many dangerous incidents are played down or kept secret to maintain desirable statistics.
The federal police officer, referred to as Bernd K., has shared his experiences with Bild newspaper, having worked for six months at Munich train station and also in the “refugee hotspots” of Passau and Freilassing in Bavaria.
“At first, mostly families with children – who looked educated and spoke English – were coming here,” the officer told. “Meanwhile, 95 percent of refugees are now single men.”
As if police weren’t demoralized enough by not being able to effectively carry out their duties, or risk being called a racist for acknowledging the high crime rates among migrants, but now they must stay silent about their opinions on their government as well or risk their jobs, reputation and paycheck.
Welcome to the new age of government control and suppression of free speech in Germany under the guise of liberalism and tolerance. Just be thankful the United States did not elect Hillary Clinton this year, as she herself named Angela Merkel as her “favorite” world leader and someone to be emulated.
