Talk show host Sean Hannity spoke about Melissa Young, the former Miss Wisconsin pageant winner who came out in support of Donald Trump during the primaries, and how her health has taken a turn for the worse.
Melissa Young spoke at a Wisconsin townhall hosted by Trump back in April, telling the audience how he supported her “during her darkest hour” and made sure that her son would be taken care of after she was gone. Melissa suffers from a terminal disease, and although she has been fighting every step of the way, there is currently no cure or permanent treatment.
Sean Hannity spoke to Melissa’s good friend, Chelsea, who updated him on her condition and how a GoFundMe page has been set up to help her with overwhelming medical costs. On Hannity’s website there is an article posted regarding Melissa’s condition, and a reminder of how Donald Trump sent her a handwritten note when she was in the hospital that gave her hope for the future.
Former Miss. Wisconsin and vocal supporter of Donald Trump, Melissa Young, is suffering from an incurable illness caused by a doctor’s medical negligence and recently her health has taken a turn for the worse. She’s fighting every day to stay strong for her 8-year-old son, Jack.
You may recall Melissa’s story from back in March, when she got up and thanked Donald Trump at a rally in Wisconsin. She told Trump, “You’ve saved me in so many ways. In recent years I’ve been struggling with an incurable illness and I’m on home care now and it was caused by a doctor’s medical negligence.
“In those dark days fighting – right now all the tubes have been removed and I have a ‘do not resuscitate’ order and I have a seven year old son – those days in the hospital, I received from you a handwritten letter that says ‘to the bravest woman I know.”
At this point in Melissa’s fight, her medical care is outside of what insurance will cover and her family is facing an enormous medical debt. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Melissa and her family. Please consider making a donation to this wonderful woman.
Melissa’s medical condition wasn’t the only topic discussed. Chelsea, who said she considers Melissa to be her sister and helps take care of her, reported that someone tried to break into her home twice since the election.
Chelsea said that Melissa called her and explained the attempted break in to her home. While the attempted home invasion was taking place she could only think about the safety of her son. Melissa is hooked up to an IV during sleeping, which Chelsea said helps keep her hydrated, and it’s a process to disconnect the tubes, not something that can be done quickly when you hear someone trying to break in. When Melissa heard someone trying to enter her home, she could only think of her son’s safety, and ran to his room to shelter him until the police arrived.
Chelsea also said that Melissa’s car was also stolen, and some evidence was left behind that indicated the burglar would return. Melissa has received criticism and angry messages from Trump opponents, upset over her support of him and these attacks happened after the election.
Melissa Young has also said that her most powerful gift is “her voice”, meaning she can be a vocal advocate for what she believes is right.
From Sean Hannity’s recap of his November 17th radio show:
“Melissa and her family were recently victims of a crime which they feel they were targeted over her support for Donald Trump. ”
Hannity said he would send over representatives from Simplisafe, a home security and alarm company, who will set her up with a system for free.
He also committed to donating a whopping $10,000 to start off fundraising to help Melissa with her medical costs.
This brave woman is going through her last days, and thankfully she was around to see Donald Trump become president, but she is suffering from a terminal disease and needs our help.
