Google has taken center stage in the debate over free speech and suppressing non-progressive opinions, particularly in the tech industry, as earlier this week they fired an employee for writing a “manifesto” critical of Google brushing aside an employee’s merits in favor of diversity and a progressive agenda.
James Damore was accused by progressives of writing a “sexist” manifesto pointing out that the politically correct culture at Google is stifling free thought, creativity and the opportunity for merit-based career advancements. Damore was fired by Google for “perpetuating gender stereotypes”, but since his story hit national news scientists have been flocking to support his conclusion that there are undeniable differences in the way men and women naturally think, which in turn leads more men to pursue careers in programming, engineering and mathematics than women. Progressives would have the nation believe that any industry which under-represents women is simply “sexist” and is the result of deep seeded misogyny, but science proves that belief incorrect.
Debra W. Soh, Ph.D., a Canadian science writer, also deemed the manifesto to be scientifically accurate, declaring, “As a woman who’s worked in academia and within STEM, I didn’t find the memo offensive or sexist in the least.”
“I found it to be a well thought out document, asking for greater tolerance for differences in opinion, and treating people as individuals instead of based on group membership,” Soh explained. “Within the field of neuroscience, sex differences between women and men—when it comes to brain structure and function and associated differences in personality and occupational preferences—are understood to be true, because the evidence for them (thousands of studies) is strong. This is not information that’s considered controversial or up for debate; if you tried to argue otherwise, or for purely social influences, you’d be laughed at.”
Other researchers suggest that trying to artificially impose a 50% quota of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields is unrealistic, and as gender equality improves, we should expect this gender gap to actually widen.
Of course, differences exist at the individual level, and this doesn’t mean environment plays no role in shaping us. But to claim that there are no differences between the sexes when looking at group averages, or that culture has greater influence than biology, simply isn’t true.
In fact, research has shown that cultures with greater gender equity have larger sex differences when it comes to job preferences, because in these societies, people are free to choose their occupations based on what they enjoy.
As the memo suggests, seeking to fulfill a 50-per-cent quota of women in STEM is unrealistic. As gender equity continues to improve in developing societies, we should expect to see this gender gap widen.
Now, advocates of free speech are rallying to James Damore in support under the hashtag #MarchOnGoogle, as Google has effectively made him both a martyr and a national icon to those fighting for free expression of ideas within liberal dominated industries such as technology.
The website www.MarchOnGoogle.com has been created to organize a nationwide march on Google workplaces around the country,
Today, the March on Google was announced by Jack Posobiec and a coalition of free speech activists around the United States.
The site: www.MarchOnGoogle.com
The date: Saturday, August 19th.
Locations: Anywhere Google Has An Office
Organizers are reaching out to James Damore to invite him to speak as well as planning a “Google Meme Contest” Post your BEST Google Memes to the hashtag #MarchOnGoogle – the winner will be announced with a special prize on the day of the march!
It’s time to #MarchOnGoogle
Google is a monopoly, and its abusing its power to silence dissent and manipulate election results.
Their company YouTube is censoring and silencing dissenting voices by creating “ghettos” for videos questioning the dominant narrative.
We will thus be Marching on Google!
People across the country will be protesting in front of the offices of every Google office.
Protesters may also be exercising their free speech rights, which Google does not respect, by protesting in front of the homes of Google’s executive team.
As with every organization that is controlled by progressive ideology rather than a genuine concern for tolerance and true diversity of thought, Google couldn’t fire James Damore fast enough, as any dissenting opinions within the liberal sphere of influence are dealt with by force. Public shamming, hostile verbal attacks, loss of employment or all of the above are frequently used as strategies of the left to silence dissent. However, if Google truly cared about diversity they would have listened to James Damore and his concerns, as if one employee is willing to risk standing up to the prevailing culture, then you can bet that there are plenty of other employees who agree with him, but have remained silent out of fear for their jobs and safety.
You may humiliate, condemn and harass a person who think differently than progressives, but you can never change their beliefs by force. A lesson that you’d think Google and other tech companies would have learned by now.
