Donald Trump has made quick gains in national polling over the past 3 weeks, and has gone from trailing by a 7.6 points to now only 2 points behind Hillary Clinton.
Since August 8th, when Hillary Clinton had her highest lead on Trump at +7.6 points, her lead has shrunk to 2.1 points as of September 7th. This is the closest Trump has been to Clinton in the national polling average by Real Clear Politics since after the Republican National Convention in July.
If Donald Trump keeps up this trend, we may see him overtake Hillary Clinton in the polls over the next few weeks. The first official debate between the two candidates will take place on September 26th, and if Clinton goes into this debate trailing in the polls, she would have to make a very strong showing against Trump.
Seeing as how Hillary has had several issues with her coughing, caused by “allergies” according to her staff, and had a coughing fit that lasted nearly 4 minutes at her rally on Monday, I’ll be interested to see how she performs during an hours long debate.
