Democrats at last night’s presidential event, where Donald Trump addressed members of Congress, had no problem organizing a group of women to dress in white garments to show reverence for the women’s suffrage movement, yet when it came to showing respect for the widow of deceased Navy SEAL Ryan Owens, they found it challenging to stand for her astonishing 2-minute ovation.
Although the Democrat women touted their dress code as salute to women’s rights, they also acknowledged it was in protest to President Trump for any imagined slights they consider him making towards their gender.
“We wear white to unite against any attempts by the Trump Administration to roll back the incredible progress women have made in the last century, and we will continue to support the advancement of all women,” Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., the chair of the party’s Women’s Working Group, said in a statement.
Throughout Trump’s speech to Congress last night Democrats in the audience responded with “boos” and jeers towards many of the president’s statements, particularly when he promised to give a voice to victims of illegal immigrant crime.
“We must support the victims of crime,” Trump said. “I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to create an office to serve American Victims. The office is called VOICE,” he said. “Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement. We are providing a voice to those who have been ignored by our media, and silenced by special interests,” Trump said.
The Democrats clearly didn’t like that as they quickly responded with boos.
Perhaps the Democrats most insulting display and lack of respect came when nearly all of them decided to remain seated during a two minute standing ovation for Carryn Owens, widow of Ryan Owens who was killed during a raid in Yemen.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) were among the many other Democrat members of Congress who refused to stand, clap or show any respect for a widow grieving for her lost son.
A handful of Democrats resisted their party’s stance and stood out amongst their peers as they did stand and acknowledge Owen’s loss. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), and were among the members of Congress who stood and applaud, but only during the second round of ovations.
The story quickly swept across social media as it’s message was undeniable. A large portion of the Democrat party has become so absorbed in their opposition and resistance to Trump that they can no longer engage in supporting patriotism, veterans or an American first perspective.
The deplorable display of contempt from Democrats did not end there, however, as a former Clinton campaign staffer was forced to delete his Twitter account after calling Ryan Owen’s widow an “idiot” for being overwhelmed by emotion during Trump’s speech.
Is the left so bent on destroying Trump that they are willing to forgo any sense of common decency or pride in America, lacking the basic respect to show admiration for a woman facing insurmountable grief?
It certainly appears so, at least for many of Democrat lawmakers. I can imagine they are only digger an even deeper hole with moderate American voters, as it’s a universal belief across party lines that you put politics aside to honor our nation’s heroes.
