In his first public statement since announcing his departure from President Trump’s administration today, Steve Bannon told Bloomberg during an interview only hours ago that he is “going to war for Trump” against his opponents.
Bannon, who had become a conservative icon among Trump’s base and a symbol of defiance against the political establishment, vowed to intensify his fight against globalists.
“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America,” Bannon told Bloomberg News Friday in his first public comments after his departure was announced.
“The populist-nationalist movement got a lot stronger today,” said Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. “Breitbart gained an executive chairman with his finger on the pulse of the Trump agenda.
Ironically, Bannon himself predicted he would only as 8 months in the White House upon Trump taking office in January, assuming he would conflict with the globalists and embedded establishment government officials who were loyal to Obama and his agenda.
Steve Bannon is returning to his home at Breitbart News and assuming his previous role as Executive Chairman at the popular conservative outlet.
“The populist-nationalist movement got a lot stronger today,” said Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. “Breitbart gained an executive chairman with his finger on the pulse of the Trump agenda.”
Breitbart News CEO and President Larry Solov agreed.
“Breitbart’s pace of global expansion will only accelerate with Steve back,” said Solov. “The sky’s the limit.”
Bannon joined the Trump campaign on August 17, 2016 — nearly one year ago to the day of his return to Breitbart. He submitted his intention to leave the White House on August 7 of this year.
“White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon have mutually agreed today would be Steve’s last day,” said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Friday afternoon. “We are grateful for his service and wish him the best.”
The Drudge Report hailed Bannon as a “populist hero” who enjoyed an “impressive run” during his tenure as President Trump’s top White House strategist and campaign CEO.
During the past weeks, Breitbart has been waging war on Trump’s National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, claiming he is an adamant opponent of Trump’s “America First” agenda and is secretly working to undermine the president’s objectives while upholding the same unpopular globalist policies of the past administration.
While anti-nationalists, anti-Trump establishment politicians and the anti-Trump media outlets might be celebrating behind the scenes at claiming yet another scalp in the Trump administration, Bannon has proven to be an effective leader in the conservative movement. Many in Trump’s base saw him as the most fervent, dedicated supporter of Donald Trump in the White House and a person who would defend the America First agenda that the voters supported during the election.
However, if recent reports are to be believed, Bannon’s work was largely being blocked by “moderates” and Democrats in the Trump administration, isolating him to the point he had no real ability to further a conservative agenda.
Grassroots conservative groups came out in support of Steve Bannon only hours before his resignation was announced, with 20 grassroots leaders issued a letter thanking President Donald Trump for his leadership and expressing that in the face of “unfair attacks” Bannon and Kellyanne Conway were helping keep Trump’s “agenda front and center.”
“While others may come and go in the White House, we feel sure that with Steve and Kellyanne at your side, you will always hear the voices of those of us who have supported you through thick and thin, despite the efforts by some to ‘manage’ you and your message,” reads a portion of the letter.
While the media buffets your presidency on a daily basis, we take comfort in knowing that Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway are both ably working for you to assist you in weathering these unfair attacks and keeping your agenda front and center.
…it is important that those who have been your staunchest supporters know that they are not being drowned out by the Swamp which, due to its nature, seeks to engulf the White House. Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway provide that assurance that you will always have people close to you who support your vision – and ours – for this great nation.
While the media and anti-Trump establishment’s agenda may appear to be effective in ousting true nationalists from Trump’s administration, believing that they are quickly chipping away at Trump’s support base, they fail to realize that the voters supported Trump because of his strong America First agenda, not who was presently on his team. Bannon was seen as a true believer and fighter, that’s true, but not the linchpin of Trump’s movement by any stretch of the imagination. Trump’s message on jobs, the economy and national security won him the election, not Steve Bannon.
I’d wager Bannon can do much more damage to the globalists and the opponents of Trump back in his role at Breitbart, as he will not be restrained by his position in the White House.
I can’t help but notice similarities between the feeling of impending victory that the media and anti-Trump forces must be feeling right now, and the way they felt prior to the results on election night. They believe they are winning, but they are constantly underestimating a vital group of people in their war against Trump: The voters. The working class, the Democrats who feel their party has abandoned them and every citizen who wants their president to support the interests of the American people first, not the interests of the globalist elite.
