Susan Rice, who served as National Security Advisor under Barack Obama, has been propelled to the center of the allegations of spying for political purposes on Donald Trump’s campaign staff, and will now be finding herself questioned for her potential central role in this scandal.
On Monday it was reported that Susan Rice was behind the unmasking of Trump’s campaign staff who were “caught up” in intelligence gathering operations, which were directed towards foreign nationals, but just happen to consistently include high ranking members of Trump’s staff. When this sort of “incidental” collection of information occurs only the target of the operation is suppose to be revealed, not American civilians who happen to be taking part in a conversation with the foreign national.
On Monday, in a revelation that Senator Rand Paul describes as a “smoking gun,” numerous sources outed former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice as behind the “unmasking” of Trump associates picked up through surveillance of foreign nationals.
While Rice had legal access to the electronic eavesdropping, and though her exposure of the identities of the individuals involved might be excused under certain circumstances, it is clear she has lied about her involvement and also about what took place in the Obama White House.
Under the harshest interpretation, it appears that Rice, possibly at the behest of President Obama, collected and distributed classified information about Trump and his associates with the sole purpose of politically damaging the incoming president.
Now, less than a day after these revelations came to light, it appears Congress is eager to find out just how deep this spying rabbit hole goes, and how far Susan Rice went to uncover details which could be used to damage Donald Trump’s administration.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the House Intelligence Committee wants Susan Rice to testify as part of their probe into alleged Russian election meddling, which has since widened into an investigation of Obama’s officials and their role in what amounts to spying on Trump along with his staff.
The WSJ claims that two officials familiar with this matter have revealed that Susan Rice is on a list of witnesses to be called before the House Intel Committee for questioning, although formal requests to testify have not yet been sent to these witnesses.
As the situation unfolds and more details are coming forth on a daily basis, what this case seems to amount to is the deliberate misuse of intelligence gathering for the purpose of spying on an incoming president-elect in hopes of uncovering damaging details which could later be used against Trump’s officials, or even the president himself, perhaps in an attempt to oust him from office (as reports have shown Obama is working behind the scenes to impeach Trump).
Earlier on Tuesday Susan Rice gave a single interview on MSNBC (of course) where she bluntly stated in broken English, “I leaked nothing to nobody”.

Sure, just like Benghazi was caused by a YouTube video and was a spontaneous event. Ironically enough, Susan Rice was responsible for parroting what we now know was a complete lie regarding the cause of the attack on the American embassy in Benghazi, which is yet another reason to take her current claims with a huge grain of salt.
I suppose that settles it then, at least as far as the Democrat aligned mainstream media is concerned. In fact, Susan Rice’s unmasking revelations seem to be so damaging that CNN’s Don Lemon completely dismissed the story, claiming that he “won’t aid and abet” what he believes is a diversion from the real issue…which appears to be clinging to the Trump-Russia theory despite a single shred of evidence being presented to prove these assertions.
Chris Cuomo on CNN also dismissed the Rice revelations a “fake scandal“. I’m curious if he and the rest of the mainstream media would share the same sentiment if roles were reversed and these accusations were levied against Trump or other Republicans, rather than Obama and the Democrats.
As much as the mainstream media is trying to downplay Susan Rice’s unmasking of Trump officials during and after the election, the reality is that revealing the identity of an American citizen caught up in surveillance operations of foreign nations is extremely rare. In fact, the unmasking should only take place if there was some sort of imminent threat or attack that could be averted by revealing the American citizen’s identity. It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which Donald Trump or his high ranking officials would be in any way involved in such a case, yet already the media is spinning Rice’s actions as perfectly acceptable.
If Susan Rice decides to show up and testify to Congress be prepared to hear her reciting the phrases, “I don’t recall,” or “I plead the fifth” and let’s not forget every high ranking government official’s favorite lifeline of “I claim executive privilege”.
Unfortunately, the mantra of “deny, deny, deny” seems to be standard operating procedure for crooked government officials, as sadly most the time they escape without any negative consequences for their corrupt actions. However, this time may be different, as President Trump is not involved in the crooked club of political insiders who cover for each other’s misdeed and he has Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the helm of the Justice Department.
The outcome for Susan Rice, who was undoubtedly operating as a proxy for her boss Barack Obama, could prove to be much more severe than what typically amounts to nothing more than a question and answer session in front of Congress.
If Donald Trump is listening to his base, and truly has a desire to “drain the swamp” then Susan Rice could be first domino that falls, and begins the process of crumbling Obama’s corrupt house of cards that he meticulous built over his 8 years in power.
