A fresh wave of Russian hysteria has swept across the mainstream media and Democratic Party, as a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian attorney was revealed to have taken place in June of 2016.
The essence of the story involves Donald Trump Jr. receiving an email from a music publicist by the name of Rob Goldstone, who had a prior relationship with the Trump family from years ago. In these emails, Goldstone claims that he was in contact with a Russian attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, who had damaging information on Hillary Clinton and wanted to meet with Trump Jr. in order to discuss it. After going back and forth in several emails a time and place for the meeting was agreed upon.
However, according to everyone involved in the brief meeting that took place with Natalia Veselnitskaya, she had no damaging information regarding Hillary Clinton and her true purpose was to lobby the Trump campaign to reverse the Magnitsky Act. This act was passed during the Obama administration and essentially sought to punish Russia for the death of Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky in a Moscow prison in 2009.
After reporting on this meeting, the mainstream media went to Defcon 1 and immediately talks of “treason” were levied towards Donald Trump Jr. by none other than Hillary Clinton’s vice-presidential candidate Tim Kane.
Besides the obvious absurdity of that statement, the media has leveraged this meeting to publish the most sensational, scandalous headlines alleging they now have the “smoking gun” proving collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to win the election. The wrinkle in that claim is, of course, that there was collusion since the Russian attorney had no damaging information on Clinton, and has publicly stated to never have had made such claims.
Anti-Trump media outlets, such as the New York Times and Washington Post, were setting the stage to follow up their reports with the “leaked” email chain between Donald Trump Jr. and Rob Goldstein, where they originally set up the meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya. They had their explosive headlines and critical reporting ready to go, claiming a “bombshell” in the Russian collusion case.
The media’s “bombshell” headlines were sabotaged, however, when Donald Trump Jr. beat them to the punch by releasing the email chain himself in a tweet yesterday afternoon.

The media was essentially disarmed by Trump Jr. being transparent and releasing the email chain, which largely held no “bombshells”, but would have been spun by the mainstream media to be treason of the highest order.
Some conservatives and Trump supporters have claimed that releasing the email chain himself was a poor move by Trump Jr., stating that he should not have gotten involved and should focus on protecting himself. However, the email chain was obviously in the possession of the mainstream media, meaning it would have been released by them in short order.
Not only would the emails have been released, but the media would have distorted their meaning for the purpose of publishing the most damaging headlines possible in relation to the Trump administration. Words likes “treason”, “betrayal” and “smoking gun” would be running rampant in the liberal media’s articles and reporting, which both Democrats and anti-Trump establishment Republicans would quickly parrot.
In the sense of disarming the media and preventing them from pushing out inflammatory headlines, and thus depriving them from the clicks and traffic they would gain from those headlines, Trump Jr. made a wise decision in releasing the email chain himself.
For further evidence that Trump’s decision was the right one, we simply need to observe the reaction of liberal journalists to his tweet. Jared Yates Sexton, a reporter who has written for the New York Times, had a meltdown on Twitter after Trump Jr. released the email chain, claiming he “chased this story for a year” and the president’s son simply…”tweeted it out”.
Any action on the part of Trump Jr. that causes this type of meltdown by a leftist journalist must deserve some merit. One simply has to look at a picture of Jared Yates Sexton and it should be obvious he is a fervent anti-Trump fanatic, and thoroughly convinced (despite having any concrete evidence) that President Trump was only able to defeat his liberal champion, Hillary Clinton, through the aid of foreign collusion.
If you require yet more evidence of exactly how far left Jared Yates Sexton is, then you can see an example of his work featured on the New York Time’s website in an article he published titled, “Donald Trump’s Toxic Masculinity“. To more accurately describe the contents of this piece for the NYT, Yates should have titled it, “I Am a Weak Beta Male and Donald Trump’s Strength Frightens Me“.
If this is the best the anti-Trump forces have, a 15-minute meeting with a Russian attorney lobbying for the repeal of the Magnitsky Act, then they are truly desperate and are rapidly running out of steam to push their “Russian collusion” fantasy. In fact, it already appears the media has run out of ammunition against President Trump himself in regards to their Russian collusion fantasies, and have instead turned to attacking his family for imagined “collusion”.
