Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife have been hospitalized only days before Donald Trump’s inauguration is to take place, causing them to both to be absent from the event.
The 92-year-old Bush Sr. was hospitalized earlier this week in Houston due to “acute respiratory problems stemming from pneumonia”, which can be deadly even to someone half his age. According to Politco, Bush Sr. is currently stable after doctors sedated him in order to clear his airways. Mrs. Bush was also hospitalized this morning after feeling “fatigued” and experience coughing.
Below is the brief note that George H.W. Bush sent to Trump to inform him that he will not be in attendance at his inauguration:
Upon hearing the news, President-elect Donald Trump sent a Tweet wishing both Bush and his wife a speedy recovery, along with thanking them for their letter.
Looking forward to a speedy recovery for George and Barbara Bush, both hospitalized. Thank you for your wonderful letter!

Thankfully, both Bush’s can still view the entire historic inauguration of Donald Trump on the televisions at the hospital if they are still in need of care.
