One of President-elect Donald Trump’s lesser talked about campaign promises was to bring back the phrase “Merry Christmas” again, to eliminate the political correctness shaming of the phrase and prevent December 25th from becoming a generic “Happy Holidays” occasion with no emphasis on its true meaning.
At his stop in Wisconsin on Trump’s “Thank You Tour”, he followed up on that promise and while flanked by six Christmas trees he said:
“I told my first crowd in Wisconsin that we’re going to come back here some day and we are going to say Merry Christmas again, so Merry Christmas everyone. Happy New Year, but Merry Christmas”
Well Merry Christmas to you too Mr. President Elect Trump.
Combined with the Christmas tress in the background and a sign on the front of his podium that says “Merry Christmas USA”, I think it’s safe to say that Donald Trump has gotten his point across.
I suspect you will start hearing people saying Merry Christmas with much more confidence and joy than they have in the past 8 years, unless you live in a liberal stronghold of course.
